The ticket is not valid for long-distance trains (e.g. ICE, IC, EC) and private providers such as FlixTrain are also excluded. It costs 29 euros per month and is only available as a subscription.

With the Deutschlandticket Schule, journeys across the border to the Netherlands are also possible - more precisely to Venlo, Arnhem or Nijmegen. However, only with certain lines: Bus lines 929 (from Duisburg) or 29, 60 (from Kleve), 91 and SB58 (from Emmerich) as well as with the RE 13 and RE 19 train lines.

Nothing! All existing SchokoTickets are automatically converted to the Deutschlandticket Schule. There are a few schools that do not convert the SchokoTicket to the Deutschlandticket Schule.

In principle, we will send you a new chip card for every existing SchokoTicket. You do not have to do anything if you are sure that we have your current address. If you have moved and have not informed us of your new address, please write to us at abo@rheinbahn.de with your new address and your customer number.

For your information: You will receive a letter from us with all the important information and a sticker to put on your SchokoTicket chip card until we send you the new chip card for the Deutschlandticket Schule.

A new chip card is needed because the VRR area is stored on the SchokoTicket chip card as the area of validity.

And so that you don't all have to come to the KundenCenter individually, we will send you new cards.

Anytime. Please note that it is always valid from the 1st of the month. However, you can determine the start of validity yourself when you take out the subscription.

The Deutschlandticket Schule is only available as a chip card. We explain how you can apply for it further up the page.

Unfortunately, the Deutschlandticket Schule is not available as a digital version. We will send you a new Deutschlandticket chip card by 1.8.

Due to the large number of conversions, new orders and supply bottlenecks for the cards, we have not yet been able to completely replace the chip cards. This will be done gradually in the coming weeks.

Until then, please use your existing chip card with the sticker you received from us during the holidays. This will be temporarily recognised on all local and regional transport in Germany. All German transport companies have a special goodwill arrangement for the first few months.

Nevertheless, we recommend that you print out a fare certificate via AboOnline and carry it with you to avoid any misunderstandings in the event of an inspection.

If you have received an increased transport charge (EBE), you can have this cancelled by giving us your customer or chip card number.

You may have a new address which is not yet known to us, so that the letter could not be delivered. In this case, please send an e-mail to schulbescheinigung@rheinbahn.de, preferably stating your new address.

In addition, the Deutschlandticket Schule is personalised and cannot be passed on to third parties.

For journeys outside the VRR area, you will then need a bicycle ticket from the respective transport association or federal state.

Yes, if buses or trains on local transport within North Rhine-Westphalia are delayed by 20 minutes or more or cancelled altogether, the NRW Mobility Guarantee applies. This also applies to people who travel on local public transport in NRW with a DeutschlandTicket Schule but do not live in NRW.

Please note: The NRW Mobility Guarantee only applies to journeys within the North Rhine-Westphalian network and community tariffs as well as the NRW tariff.
